The Luela Kaba family has grown to Arizona, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, California, and Utah. That means five times the clients, five times the photography, and five times the family. 

Originally from Scottsdale, Arizona, Luela Kaba Photography has grown to become a generously known photography company serving many women as the stepping stone to revealing their highest self. Since then, we’ve grown to spread our experiences with various cities and moms; making the Luela Kaba photography family the biggest it’s ever been yet. Rydel Lynch Has Some Advice For Mothers… And We’re Listening!

Singer and recently proclaimed mother, Rydel Lynch, has kept us all on the tip of our toes as she brought us along her journey through pregnancy. Finally, she’s shown us her adorable baby boy! Not only has motherhood been a new concept for the star but she’s managed to learn a thing or two that could definitely help other new moms – and soon-to-be mom’s as well! Word on the street is that if you give your newborn a breastfeeding schedule from the get-go, there will be much less mid-day snacking from the baby as well as a decent decrease in sleepless nights. This immediate schedule teaches the baby’s body when to be hungry rather than feeding on breast milk whenever they want to. This concept seems revolutionary, other moms should test this out and tell us what response they get! Better yet, if you’ve used this tactic on your child when they were young, let us know so we can get another word for it. Implementing this at such a young age seems genius and well-thought-out. This encourages structure at such a young and impressionable age, and that’s what matters most. Let’s Talk Gender Reveals

Gender Reveals:
Are You a Minimalist or an Extremist?

Working with aspiring parents, we admire the opportunity to watch a family grow right before our eyes. Between Luela Kaba’s family, motherhood, and maternity photoshoots, it’s bittersweet to watch a client go on to live a beautiful life with their new family! However, Luela Kaba and her creative team are one big family; and our clients are our extended family. With that being said, revealing the gender of a bun in the oven is one of the biggest moments of soon-to-be parents! So here are some ideas as far as how creative you can get.

When it comes to gender reveals, it can go two ways, (1) a minimal gathering with close family or (2) a grand kickoff with the whole crew! But in this case, let’s start with the first.

Minimal, Small, Meaningful:

For a small gathering with family only 10 people are really necessary. This makes room for easy flowing conversation, lots of photo opportunities, and isn’t too difficult to cater to. You could reveal the gender by doing any of the following:

  • Cut a cake! The filling of the center would be the color designated to each gender.
  • Pop a balloon! There could be confetti with the designated color within it.
  • Set a smoke bomb! Have a friend who has previous knowledge of the gender decorate the smoke bomb so that there are no spoilers.

Grand, Plentiful, Dramatic:

Having a huge party for this kind of announcement seems like loads of fun! So many loved ones would be there to celebrate, mingle, and welcome your parenthood with open arms. Lots of candids would be taken and that would be the perfect opportunity to tell your little one “That’s your third cousin! That’s your fifth auntie!” and so so so much more. The atmosphere would be through the roof and as parents-to-be, you would be surrounded by endless support and love. You could reveal the gender by doing any of the following:

  • Fireworks! As the sun goes down, this would be a perfect opportunity to see some beautiful visuals while finding out the gender of your baby.
  • Team games! Have the guests split up into teams and engage in an activity that would reveal the gender of the baby.
  • Pinata! Use a huge pinata and have that release party confetti in the color designated to each color.

While there is some that you can do, there’s no reason for anyone to lose sleep over it! So, fear no more, the following words will teach you how to properly prepare for a maternity photoshoot.

For starters, it’s important that you are in the right state of mind. Don’t forget that this is a form of self-care and it is imperative that you realize that we are doing this for you! It’s alright to get cold feet, but I assure you that our team is welcoming and so excited to get glam with you! Play some music and get yourself in the mood, after all, this is a day meant for pampering. Once you’ve gotten yourself hyped up and ready to go, go ahead and get your nails done. Make sure any tiny imperfections that you’d want out of sight, are handled! This includes manicures, pedicures, and unwanted body hair. We want you feeling pristine!

Next up, pack your bags! Make sure you have anything and everything you might need, especially because these are long sessions, so you want to be set. Our Fav Shoots and How We Do Them

Growing up, we were all told how unique each of us are. How each and every person is different from anyone else, bringing different qualities and personalities to the table. When it comes to maternity photography, there is a different perspective that goes with each and every client. Creating custom fabrics, backdrops, and tones for each shoot, it’s important to be able to tailor to the wants and needs of the mother. In today’s blog, we will be analyzing the ins and outs of each client and how we satisfy their wants.

In maternity photography, and specifically this one, it’s vital to pay attention to the 3 most important aspects: fabrics, tone, and the mother.

  • Fabrics. As you can see here, after some meddling, we decided to settle with some semi- bright tones to counter our client’s rich complexion. This complemented the subject of the photo and brings the eye to a focal point. Matching the fabrics with a headwrap brings together the whole photo as well as captures the mother as the centerpiece. This makes for a beautiful full-circle moment.
  • Tone. The tone, or mood, of a photo is especially evident based on the colors of the fabrics as well as the backdrop. Using warm colors, we create a welcoming setting, a feeling that newborns all tend to call upon when first feeling the touch of their mother. Whilst creating the perfect combination of the two, it’s imperative to make sure they don’t swallow the light for the subject. 
  • Our beautiful mother. In the photos above, we wanted to capture the mother’s grace and poise. We set the fabrics to be draping elegantly behind her, making for a regal aesthetic. We take the pure beauty standing in front of us and simply tailor the accessories to fit her. Showing off a stunning side profile, we take all of the best angles that perfectly highlight the perfections of each and every client of ours. These same aspects go with any other maternity, motherhood, family, or boudoir photo shoot.
